Batteries are still not able to contain the really concentrated energy to provide reliable and consistent power output, and also to be recharged quickly. Too much amperage and too much heat in both the charging and discharge parts of the cycle.
Electric is fine. But reliance on batteries very quickly runs into the heat problem with high-amperage charge or discharge. Now a small fuel cell cartridge, that can be recharged with hydrogen when spent, would be w worthwhile alternative to batteries.
Batteries are a dead end, useful only in niche applications.
The bottom line is that the consumer should decide. I live on acreage with a forest and fenced pasture.
I have 2 electric chainsaws and 5 gas saws all the way up to 84” including a couple of “pro” saws. I pick the right saw for the job.
The cordless saws work well for light cutting/trimming and they are more convenient than running a gas saw on a smaller job, but I have some trees that require two cuts with a 28” bar to drop or process for firewood.
This “proposed” law is absurd.
