I put a new battery in my Tacoma’s key.
CVS had a few of the one I needed and I had a coupon so almost free.
I got home and swapped a battery in . Dead fob.
2nd battery worked.
That’s the first dead out of the pack battery I can remember.

(I cannot be sure for certain, but in my personal opinion I am certain that I am not sure.)

Years back I recall buying a few 4-packs of batteries from a dollar store. As if by design, one out of 4 would test bad right out of the package. It seemed an interesting method of reducing to cost of batteries for a part of that supply chain.

That’s the first dead out of the pack battery I can remember. You're lucky. It seems to be getting worse, to where I now routinely get out the meter and check batteries before installing them.

I replaced a car key fob CR2025 battery today.
No fires yet.
That’s about the largest vehicle battery I want to replace....
