We got gay marriage by a 5-4 vote of unelected Supreme Court Justices, not through legislation or Presidential executive order. None of the Justices voting for it were appointed by GWB.

Apparently, just as with abortion, everyone got the idea of ‘marriage’ wrong until the five wise men and women got a chance to correct us all.
