Once Upon a Time in Londongrad
Recently downloaded and watched this six part British series. It explores 14 mysterious deaths in the UK with alleged connections to Russia over two decades. BuzzFeed was involved with the production, so I took it with a grain of salt. They do seem to stretch the facts to fit the scenarios, but there were some interesting tidbits within the series, like Michael Steele being a source of info for some of the Russian connections to the deaths, and former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov being described as a "very dangerous fellow." Luzhkov was eventually sacked by President Dmitry Medvedev, and died in 2019 from anaphylactic shock while undergoing invasive heart surgery in Berlin, Germany. Luzhkov's widow, Elena Baturina, known as the "richest woman in Russia" was the one who wired Hunter Biden $3.5 million.
One of the individuals they covered in "Once Upon a Time..." was Russian Oligarch Boris Berezovsky who was found hung in his locked bathroom in 2013. As the show explained, when the USSR broke up, many Russian businessmen became wealthy buying previously state-owned land and companies. Berezovsky was one of them. And because he became wealthy, like other Russian Oligarchs, he was able to buy influence in Moscow while Yeltsin was in power. When Putin came into power, if you go by what BuzzFeed was saying, Berezovsky was basically kicked out from having any influence in the government. Wikipedia says he left on his own accord. He left Russia and landed in Britain, asking for political asylum. He became a very vocal critic of Putin.
Another individual they discussed was British businessman Scot Young. He allegedly laundered money for Berezovsky and others. Here's a link to a UK Daily Mail article about him:
Last night I finished watching the four part British series titled "Litvinenko" starring David Tennant. Berezovsky was also acquainted with Alexander Litvinenko, who was poisoned with Polonium in November 2006. The series covers his death, and the police investigation that occurred. This series included Berezovsky, because he apparently helped Litvinenko's widow Marina and their son in the aftermath of his murder. The series takes place over several years, and Berezovsky's death is included in the last episode. The end of the series deals with Marina Litvinenko's fight to have a public inquest into her husband's death, and lay the blame at Putin's table. The two Russians that probably poisoned him had worked for the FSB. Litvinenko had also worked for the FSB which Putin headed at the time, and defected to London with his family. He and his family had recently become British citizens prior to his death.
Another ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with Novichok, but survived in 2018 in Salisbury, England. There was also another contamination of the same chemical in Amesbury, where one person died. These poisonings, and the aftermath were featured in the British TV series titled: "The Salisbury Poisonings."
