The ‘DeSantis Is Trump Without the Baggage’ Crowd is in for a Rude Awakening
American Thinker ^ | February 15, 2023 | Matt Kane

Posted on 02/15/2023 4:49:45 PM PST by conservative98

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.”

If DeSantis chooses to run for president, whether that is in the next election or sometime down the road, his opponents (from both parties) and leftist media will have no shortage of ammunition to create baggage specific to him.

1) As Governor of Florida, DeSantis image as a protector of school children and being “anti-groomer” has gone unchallenged. His press secretary Christina Pushaw (more on her later) took to Twitter to categorize his signing of the Parental Rights in Education act as an “Anti-Grooming Bill.”

2) Recently, he has been accused of partying with his own female students when DeSantis was a 23-year-old teacher in Georgia in 2001. Photo evidence shows DeSantis surrounded by 3 girls holding what looks like an alcoholic beverage.

3) DeSantis began a military career where he was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.

4) hich means accusations of DeSantis greenlighting cruel and inhumane forms of torture on detainees at Guantanamo Bay, including force feeding detainees through a nasal feeding tube pushed down their throats while DeSantis allegedly watched in amusement, will eventually be addressed.

5) DeSantis GOP opponents will undoubtedly question him on his Press Secretary, Christina Pushaw, who recently had to register as a foreign agent because of her paid work with, of all people, a Ukrainian politician named Mikheil Saakashvili.

Obama was bombing Syria ….. dropping bombs in the middle of nowhere isn’t hitting targets. Clinton did a lot of bombing, too.

https://coffeeordie.com/wagner-group-syria-khasham

But you think the U.S. should be bombing and invading wherever they can? Absolutely NOT.

And the previous President wasn’t about bombing and invading, either.

All Republicans have massive baggage.
If you haven’t heard about it yet the left just hasn’t invented it yet.

I always told the vendors who came into my office that of course I could be bought.

All I want is the entire western United states-including Alaska and to have absolute life and death authority in the lands that I would rule absolutely.

NONE OF THE CHEAPSKATES WOULD EVER MEET MY PRICE!

If John Bolton supports him he is not worthy of federal office.

And never will be.

DeSantis is a more “polished” version of Trump

Yep, DeSantis is a polishedtician. Exactly what Trump ain't and most of us don't want him to be.

DaSantis is for convention of states - a big NO in my book - shows he is not in favor of our constitution, nor country.

DeSantis is NOT following the constitution, which says if the Fed is not protecting your states citizens against illegal invasion the governor has the authority to protect the citizens - in my mind that means he can deport or use his state national guard members to some how get them out of the country- WITHOUT infringing on or harming other states.

INSTEAD Desantis is trying to gain points with voters with his ridiculous antics, WHILE in reality HELPING the globalist plans (since he is in bed or otherwise attached to some of them already) by shuttling them further into the country!

DeSantis is wolf in sheeps clothing. Things he is doing to “help” FL are not his real intention. He isn’t doing best for his state citizens nor the country!

“There is countless lawsuits of groping, rape et al since the early 80s, 12 I think, including a Jane Doe associated with Epstien. Read long before he ran for President in 2000. As well as business partners and friends arrested for trafficking.”
Lawsuits are filed against the very wealthy almost as often as traffic tickets. Not a single one of those has ever resulted in a conviction because they had no merit. Trump the businessman NEVER settled out of court when sued. He fought every single accusation in court. And, most suits were subsequently dropped.
These are detailed in his books AND he spoke of that extensively in a great many of his early campaign rallies prior to winning in 2016.
You mention Epstein. Epstein paid for membership at Mara Lago. Later, when Trump got wind of rumors about the man he rescinded Epsteins membership. There was absolutely no relationship between the two.
To paraphrase President Reagan, so much of what you know just isn’t so.

*********

Anti Trump partisans on Free Republic don’t care about the facts around the the 45th President, they think and react like “emotional urban democrats” when any negativity about Trump is presented in the liberal media.
They’ve been using the same rhetoric as they were using in 2016.(Old dogs with their old “tricks.”)

Trump’s opponents lie about him & pretend he is a criminal.

If Trump is a criminal he has the smallest “rap sheet” in world history, which is zero, the guy is 76 years old with no record.(Civil lawfare is another matter, but it makes lawfare parasites very wealthy so it’s like paying tribute)

FOR ME: TRUMP OR NOBODY
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
It’s a mystery why so many conservative, patriotic voters are so easily duped regarding who to vote for when the basis for making that determination is made so simple by the Democrats and the corrupt news media. All one need do is pay attention to which candidate is the victim of the Left’s most vicious lies and hatred AND VOTE FOR THAT PERSON!

DeSantis is Trump without the tendency to say stupid things. That is not something they can make DeSantis do. He is far more disciplined than Trump.

Also, DeSantis is much better at formulating detailed arguments. Trump is virtually incapable of doing that. Trump has some simple thing that he repeats over and over, like “We had the best economy ever!”.

The problem with that is the media/Biden will portray it as false. If the economy is really bad next year, then Trump might not need to say much more than a simple line. OTOH if it’s doing okay next year, the media/Biden will say Biden’s economy is much better than Trump’s. Trump is incapable of putting together the details needed to break through the lies. DeSantis is very good at putting together detailed arguments.

Yeah, and the author spreads the butter pretty thin. Here he is resurrecting the party with the girls. That went nowhere because there’s nothing to it. It’s a joke, and Trump debased himself trying to launch it

It really doesn’t get any more damning than this for a neocon to self-identify:

When John Bolton was named National Security Advisor, DeSantis praised the choice: “John Bolton, it’s a very strong voice, very clear thinker.”

http://www.cga.ct.gov/2007/rpt/2007-R-0621.htm

“PREEMPTION OF STATE LAWS REGULATING IMMIGRATION

The Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution invalidates (preempts) state laws that interfere with or are contrary to federal law (Article VI, Cl. 2). With respect to immigration-related matters, the U.S. Supreme Court has held that:

the regulation of aliens is so intimately blended and intertwined with responsibilities of the national government that where it acts, and the state also acts on the same subject, the act of Congress or treaty is supreme; and the law of the state, though enacted in the exercise of powers not controverted, must yield to it. And where the federal government, in the exercise of its superior authority in this field, has enacted a complete scheme of regulation….states cannot, inconsistently with the purpose of Congress, conflict or interfere with, curtail or complement, the federal law, or enforce additional or auxiliary regulations.

(Hines v. Davidowitz, 312 U.S. 52 (1941)).”

Looks as though the closest thing to deportation that a governor can do is transferring illegals to other states.

If he does, I’ll support him to anyone who will listen and vote (early) for him. It’s that critical to defeat the Dem candidate.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You exemplify many conservative voters who mystify me by publicly trash-mouthing President Trump while at the same time expressing a firm intent to vote for the man. Doing so is, in my view, quite incomprehensible.
