The ‘DeSantis Is Trump Without the Baggage’ Crowd is in for a Rude Awakening
American Thinker ^ | February 15, 2023 | Matt Kane

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.”

If DeSantis chooses to run for president, whether that is in the next election or sometime down the road, his opponents (from both parties) and leftist media will have no shortage of ammunition to create baggage specific to him.

1) As Governor of Florida, DeSantis image as a protector of school children and being “anti-groomer” has gone unchallenged. His press secretary Christina Pushaw (more on her later) took to Twitter to categorize his signing of the Parental Rights in Education act as an “Anti-Grooming Bill.”

2) Recently, he has been accused of partying with his own female students when DeSantis was a 23-year-old teacher in Georgia in 2001. Photo evidence shows DeSantis surrounded by 3 girls holding what looks like an alcoholic beverage.

3) DeSantis began a military career where he was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.

4) hich means accusations of DeSantis greenlighting cruel and inhumane forms of torture on detainees at Guantanamo Bay, including force feeding detainees through a nasal feeding tube pushed down their throats while DeSantis allegedly watched in amusement, will eventually be addressed.

5) DeSantis GOP opponents will undoubtedly question him on his Press Secretary, Christina Pushaw, who recently had to register as a foreign agent because of her paid work with, of all people, a Ukrainian politician named Mikheil Saakashvili.

So, every 40 years.. or so.. we get a President with true character?

We get whatever We the People are willing to put up with.

I can’t speak for others, but I don’t idolize President Trump. I still call him “President” because he obviously won the election.

I will readily agree that President Trump has many flaws and sometimes speaks when he shouldn’t. But, I appreciate the fact that he fights and I loved his “mean tweets”. The last thing conservatives need is a “nice”, cowardly Presidential candidate who wishes to play fair with leftists. Leftists play dirty, so we need to play as dirty as possible. That’s the only way to win. Nice guys finish last.

I want to make clear that I didn’t mean to insinuate that you aren’t a Christian. Personally, I’m FAR from perfect. I was just angry at the other usual suspects’ childish derogatory comments about President Trump. There are too many on this site who cannot stomach the thought of a Republican being a fighter.

Everyone has baggage. DeSantis may be MAGA, but the man who made the brand MUST be reelected for the brand to endure. Then you can have a DeSantis run in 2028 and 2032, or Haley, or whoever. What would have happened to the Khan brand if Genghis had decided to make origami and water color paintings instead of conquering Asia.

DeSantis used his coat-tails to expand the GOP majority in Florida.…..883,000 Republicans moved to Florida. 883,000. DeSantis won by 400k. What would have happened if it were not for those 883,000 escaping the high tax areas they fled from, like they’ve always been doing.

You NeverTrump folks use the same old stuff

Fetterman had over 900k votes in the bag, before Election Day. Based on rules from covid and a month of early voting to stuff the ballot boxes.

Walker was winning until he wasn’t when all the votes from heavy Dem locations miraculously showed a Warnock win. Ballots that are never verified for authenticity.

And now let’s look at Arizona. One election official took a $25,000 bonus and has disappeared. Leaving a total mess in Pinal County.

So of course, it was all Pres Trump. Absolutely nothing to do with all the fraud that is not only still being used, in most states its embedded into law.

And you want to blame Pres Trump for 2018.

But you won’t throw any criticism to Ryan or McConnell. Tow “leaders” that did. Irving but obstruct Prea Teump from day 1

Your arguments are stupid.

As for your question, yes, unless Desantis runs against Trump in 2024.

Then his career is over. He will have lost crucial support if he does that.

I will readily agree that President Trump has many flaws and sometimes speaks when he shouldn’t. But, I appreciate the fact that he fights and I loved his “mean tweets”.

I’ve said on here many times that I believe the main reason that Trump’s supporters ate so devoted to him are his mean tweets. This is the true source of his power, and why he spent all of 2021 setting up his new social media website, instead of looking into or doing anything about the election that was just stolen.

This is where Trump really started losing me, however, because as far as the mean tweets, I could take them or leave them. What really matters to me, is action, not words. So to me, when Trump spent all of 2021 setting up his new internet message board, instead of tracking down who stole the election, and how they stole it, and making sure they couldn’t steal it again, it just proved to me he is all about being a keyboard warrior, and not actually doing the hard work necessary.

We saw it play out in 2022. All those critical swing states were lost again in close elections. Kari Lake is convinced her election was stolen, and it probably was. But Trump didn’t actually do anything before or after the election to help stop it from being stolen. As usual, he huffed and puffed on his website a lot, and held a rally, where the strategy given was “outvote the cheating” which is a ridiculous strategy. STOP the cheating Trump.

So while I have no doubt you truly believe Trump is “fighting” for you with his mean tweets, they really don’t amount to a hill of beans, other than how they are being used to give his supporters a false sense that he’s actually doing something of significance. He’s a modern day Wizard of Oz, when you really start to compare the meanness and frequency of his tweets, to how little he’s actually done the last couple of years.

Bolton would consider serving as Trump’s secretary of State

https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/292313-john-bolton-would-consider-secretary-of-state-under-trump/

Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton would consider serving as secretary of State in a Donald Trump administration, piquing speculation about his potential future.

“I would,” Bolton told conservative radio show host Hugh Hewitt on Tuesday morning when asked if he would be open to the role.

Trump had previously told Hewitt that he is “seriously thinking about” tapping the longtime diplomat to lead the State Department, should he win the election in November.

“I think John Bolton’s a good man,” the GOP nominee said earlier this month. “I’ve always liked John Bolton.”

The mutual admiration is a clear sign that Bolton would be on a shortlist to lead U.S. foreign policy in a Trump administration. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and former Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn might also be on the list, after initial speculation they could be tapped as Trump’s running mate.

This weekend, Bolton praised Trump’s “serious contribution” of proposals to strengthen U.S. national security in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, crystallizing his support for the real estate tycoon.

One huge advantage Trump has: he DOES NOT NEED TO CARE what people think of him.

This is not the case with DeSantis.

I noticed that too. They aren’t going after Gaetz, Santos, the anti-contraception zealots, Rick Scott, no, they are phoning it in to buy themselves cover later. I think they have taken to heart the lessons learned in the Pennsylvania governor’s race, and that they are probably going to employ that strategy in 2024.

I’m not talking about politicians. The ‘enemy within’ is regular folks that spend day and night digging up dirt on our own. Some here have gone after others with much more fervour than they go after the left.

Donald Trump has always been handsome. He can’t help getting older. My point was about the superficiality of voters’ decisions.

He has made a mistake in getting fat but his 99% negative media coverage and impeachments and frame jobs against him have put an enormous stress load on him each and every day.

After all he has done for you and for us I think he deserves loyalty and support.

Whether Trump, DeSantis or Cruz is the nominee to hold the fort against marauding Communist barbarian woke trash we have to unite behind them someday.

So it’s not even his fault he got fat? His favorite food places are McDonalds and burger King. A typical order: 2 fish filet, 2 big Macs and a diet coke.

Trump was leader of the party. It is Trump's chair in charge of the party. Trump endorsed Ryan and McConnell, then McCarthy.

Yes, it was Trump's party since 2016.

You Trump cultists make every excuse for him over and over.
