The ‘DeSantis Is Trump Without the Baggage’ Crowd is in for a Rude Awakening
American Thinker ^ | February 15, 2023 | Matt Kane

Posted on 02/15/2023 4:49:45 PM PST by conservative98

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.”

If DeSantis chooses to run for president, whether that is in the next election or sometime down the road, his opponents (from both parties) and leftist media will have no shortage of ammunition to create baggage specific to him.

1) As Governor of Florida, DeSantis image as a protector of school children and being “anti-groomer” has gone unchallenged. His press secretary Christina Pushaw (more on her later) took to Twitter to categorize his signing of the Parental Rights in Education act as an “Anti-Grooming Bill.”

2) Recently, he has been accused of partying with his own female students when DeSantis was a 23-year-old teacher in Georgia in 2001. Photo evidence shows DeSantis surrounded by 3 girls holding what looks like an alcoholic beverage.

3) DeSantis began a military career where he was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.

4) hich means accusations of DeSantis greenlighting cruel and inhumane forms of torture on detainees at Guantanamo Bay, including force feeding detainees through a nasal feeding tube pushed down their throats while DeSantis allegedly watched in amusement, will eventually be addressed.

5) DeSantis GOP opponents will undoubtedly question him on his Press Secretary, Christina Pushaw, who recently had to register as a foreign agent because of her paid work with, of all people, a Ukrainian politician named Mikheil Saakashvili.

Trump blew 2022. He was head of the party. His team was in charge of the party.

Biden had the lowest approval rating of any POTUS in a mid-term.
Biden had the highest inflation in 50 years.
Biden had gas/electric prices higher than at any time.
Biden had shortages of foods, etc.

Yet Trump’s team could barely take the House and lost a seat in the Senate.

Biden did better in the mid-terms than Trump did in the 2018 midterms.

DeSantis used his coat-tails to expand the GOP majority in Florida.

All of this is nothing more than the Democrat/Communist’s strategy to split conservatives into irreconcilable factions ... and it’s really not a difficult thing to do.

But it’s not the democrats and commies this time. The Dems are occasionally adding gas to the fire when we get boring, but otherwise they’re letting us destroy ourselves.

The mail in ballot, big pharma billions, lockdowns, no freedom to assemble, unless you’re burning cities, bumpstock bans to work across the aisle, how much in Covid cash to stay home.
I can see trump dismissed almost the entire bill of rights by handing the country over to tyrannies.
He says he saved, what, hundreds of thousands with his vax… I was on the ground in a hospital, hearing them turn people away during the deadly covid phase…. Basically come back when it’s worse.
Not even an attempt to address their shortness of breath and painful breathing.
How many grandmothers and great grandmothers died alone across Trumpland… their families wanted to be with them and were willing to sigb any document releasing the hospital/ nursing home from liability.
How many people were denied the decent humanity of a funeral.
That is trumps legacy.
For the first time on my life, caravans of occupiers marched 1000s of miles straight into his face.
Let’s face it…. Most of his presidency was a game of chicken and he flinched…. When it mattered most.

“You didn’t say that when Bolton supported Trump. “

Bolton never supported the election of Trump.

“Bolton voted for Trump in 2016.”

Citation? I don’t believe that.

Re #6: Who is the “she” you reference? DeSantis is male.

Re #2: Trump is a thrice-married adulterer who was accused of rape by Jean Carroll. The Left also made much of the fact that Trump ran teen beauty pageants and was accused of peeping at the girls while they undressed. If those [obviously false] accusations didn’t sink Trump’s campaign I don’t see why this photo would sink DeSantis’s. Sexual morality is a thing of the past in America, and I’m not just talking Blue America either.

DeSantis is Trump without the tweets and the Deep State hires. The best platform in the world is useless if it is implemented by white-collar saboteurs.

So you think elections are decided by looks but you think Trump, who is older, fatter, and uglier than DeSantis, has a better chance of defeating Newsom? That doesn’t make sense.

I don’t see Newscum winning a general election. If the Rats are smart he won’t get past the first primary. He is toxic to Middle America.

The DeSantis crowd largely reminds me of the Ted Cruz crowd back in 2015. After the shaming letters went out you couldn’t find one. 😆

DeSantis is fine for 2028.

Will you stand by that if Trump loses again in 2024, as he likely will? At what point do we stop running a guy who hired the Deep State to fight the Deep State, whose 2022 picks lost all over America, and start backing the guy with a proven track record of tackling voter fraud and wokeism in education? Trump 2024 is a great way to get 4 more years of Rat rule. I prefer people who don't hand elections to Rats.

I would say the DeSantis is maybe Trump without the bags of money which insulate against monetary influence.

So you're saying only billionaires should run for office, then? Gee, I thought the Left was the elitist side. You don't need to be a billionaire to say no to bribes. You just need a decent character.

BTW that is my biggest fault with Trump..much bigger than his angry tweets.. and even his vaxx stance.

How about Reagan? He wasn't a billionaire, but he never took bribes. Oh, and as far as anyone knows, he was faithful to Nancy, which puts him one up on Trump.
