Peacetime senior military leaders are political pole climbers, not warriors. In the event of war, it is the common soldier who suffers most their incompetence.
This has always been the case in history. Few Patton’s out there—they do not survive well in peacetime. But, If and when we face off against Russia/China we are going to need them—Looking at the Joint Chiefs and past records it might be a good time to learn to speak Mandarin or Russian.
