Ukraine aid support softens in the US: AP-NORC Poll

Support among the American public for providing Ukraine weaponry and direct economic assistance has softened as the Russian invasion nears a grim one-year milestone, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Forty-eight percent say they favor the U.S. providing weapons to Ukraine, with 29% opposed and 22% saying they’re neither in favor nor opposed. In May 2022, less than three months into the war, 60% of U.S. adults said they were in favor of sending Ukraine weapons.

Americans are about evenly divided on sending government funds directly to Ukraine, with 37% in favor and 38% opposed, with 23% saying neither. The signs of diminished support for Ukraine come as President Joe Biden is set to travel to Poland next week to mark the first anniversary of the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II.

I do not and never supported US intervention in Ukraine. The russian people are not the enemy.

Near unanimous support from Democrats, however.

They finally found a war they can really get behind

The only reason the poll numbers haven’t cratered is because Americans by and large are idiots with regards to reality. Through in MSM deception, and it’s a recipe for spiraling towards a banana republic.

How can we even think about it when we are invaded by alien space ships, need more boosters, have new Covid and the Super Bowl?

Just send that guy in green t-shirt more tanks and some Jets. Brandons brother can do that for ya. Or Hunter.

And Democrat support is nearly unanimous as opposed to Republicans and independents.

“59% say limiting damage to the U.S. economy is more important than effectively sanctioning Russia, even if that means sanctions are less effective. Almost a year ago, in March 2022, the situation was reversed: 55% said it was a bigger priority to sanction Russia effectively, even if it meant damage to the U.S. economy.”

ZZZelenskyyyy reminds me of one of those fake “veterans” you see with their hands out on the entrances and exits to Walmart parking lots and on the corners of stoplight intersections.

Our people are learning that the LGBT/communist/climate-fear mongering powers supporting Zelensky are no better — and sometimes worse — than Putin. And our western election cheaters who support cancelation and leftist judiciary dictatorships have no standing to criticize Russia for being undemocratic.

Many understand that Ukraine doesn't have the military or economic resources of its own to achieve the victory Zelensky feeds Ukrainians and the world....., also that the resources provided by the West will never be enough to inflict a final defeat on Russia which this year and last have already shown.......

Zelensky’s thinking profoundly based on his belief that by offering Ukraine and it's people as a tool for NATO to use against Russia, he will be able to constantly gain Western support and thereby ‘ensure his own survival’, and likely his associates - at least those he still has in office. ....Zelensky acts as if it sees no value in preserving Ukrainian statehood rather has framed himself as the new Global King.

I don't think people realize how precarious Zelinsky's position was politically before the Russian invasion. His approval rating had dropped into the teens and he was widely accused of corruption.

"The October 2021 polls delivered a shock to the presidential team. According to the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, Zelensky’s approval rating as president dropped from 33.3 percent in September to 24.7 percent in October, separated from Poroshenko’s approval rating by fewer than ten percentage points. The Razumkov Center’s poll demonstrates that Volodymyr Zelensky overtook Petro Poroshenko and now has the biggest “anti-rating” among Ukrainian politicians. What has happened to the once beloved leader? My answer: at the midpoint of his presidency, Zelensky himself has destroyed his image as an alternative politician. Here is what he did. First, Zelensky and his team started promoting the idea that he was “like any other businessperson in Ukraine.” This statement was repeated by everyone on the presidential team in response to the revelations of Zelensky’s offshore holdings, suddenly exposed in the Pandora Papers." https://www.wilsoncenter.org/blog-post/just-all-others-end-zelensky-alternative

Denouncing Zelensky as the bad guy, because he is defending his sovereign Ukrainian BORDERS is nonsensical.

He does what any true conservative would do - defending his nation’s BORDERS.

Do any of you oppose that logic, really?

If yes, you are a Democrat. It would mean you dont want your own borders to be respected as well. So sad.

Criticizing the defender while at the same time staying totally silent on the deep-state Kremlin warmongering machine which is invading sovereign countries... is outright idiotic and outlandish. It is profoundly immoral.

So... Putin is a saint huh?
The Gulags in Russia are filled with political prisoners as we speak. They just don’t use the the word Gulag anymore, but in reality it’s the same thing.

The opposition leaders in Russia have been thrown in there to rot.

Also, any Russian citizen pronouncing the word “war” gets years in prison for just uttering that world. That’s how much the Kremlin “love” their Russian people... People in Russia are just canon fodder for a neo-soviet-con uber state.

The rich Kremlin’s politicians sons and daughters are safe though, they will never see the frontlines of the nations they are invading. They can eat their caviar and live comfortably in Moscow. Sovietism all over again...

As an ending note:
Putin and his deep-state Kremlin accomplices have rigged the Russian elections for decades, and that’s the only reason Putin is STILL in power.

Do you guys support Democrat election-riggers in America?
If yes, then I understand your support the election-rigging-in-chief Putin. Its logic of you.

Yes indeed, the dozen Putinistas here on FR supporting Putin are unwittingly supporting the rigging-election-boss himself - Mr. Putin. This man is denying the Russian people free and honest elections - he does what the Democrats do here in the USA.

Again, not denouncing Putin rigging the Russian elections means you support the Democrats election-rigging philosophy here is the USA. It’s fair to say so right? Because you can’t have it both ways...

Conservative Americans has had enough with “double standard” people. It’s typical commie marxist methods.

I denounce the idiot because he is using billions of U.S. dollars that should be used to defend America’s borders. The Ukraine was doing fine until FJB got elected and needed a “war” to make himself look macho and manly. Now the goofy bassturd is fighting aliens from outer space and the ignorant in this country are buying it.

Well Zelesnky ran for office on the platform he would solve the problem of The Donbass region.....(Minsk Agreements) which we knew then Prorshenko had stated (live) clearly they were told they had 8 yrs to build an army and stock up military arms. and prepare for the conflict we now see.... .....meanwhile Washington dragged Putin around the bushes..... So it was a joint venture of stalling with no intention of negotiating or stopping anything at all....and they didn't.
