If the US was speaking softly and carrying a big stick, then an argument could be made that the Empire should prevail.
But we're not doing that. We've been waging war on weaker nations, promoting hedonism, and sticking our beak where it doesn't belong; it's clear that our government needs an opposing force to keep it in check.

The most important thing is the freedom of the seas. Our ships can trade anywhere in the world (well, maybe not in Somalia).
But we export some bad ideas. Feminism is one of them. Eventually, that will be our downfall. But we will probably last for a little while. The Romans lasted a couple of centuries.
