As usual, libs have it exactly backwards. Emotion is the antithesis of Reason.

Yep. Michael Savage said it best: liberalism is a mental disorder.

During the endless evenings spent in the Operations Center during the long leadup to Desert Storm one evening the Turner movie channel screened ‘Ft Apache’. I watched it with a female captain who had seen it before. After it ended she said ‘You know, it is going to be hard for us girls to pull up our big girl pants and step off into the face of sure death like those boys there did.’ What she meant is women in the Army had to learn to emotions in check and learn how to be stoics and except what is.

The sequence of responses as usually understood, begins with a perception of a stimulus in the external world. The meaning of the perception is based on interpretation, a cognitive process which may or may not be rational. The emotional response follows, congruent with the meaning of the interpretation. This is where liberals go astray: they assume that since the emotion fits their interpretation of what’s going on, it must mean they are right.(“it just feels right.”) They don’t realize it is all based on what is too often ideologically distorted interpretation way up the chain.
When conservatives remind us that “facts don’t care about your feelings,” they are making a mentally healthy corrective observation. Naturally, to avoid cognitive dissonance, the observation is furiously opposed.

They do both as folk wisdom about how people behave and as models to emulate. For the soldier the phrase ‘Go tell the Spartans..’ sums up what being a soldier is all about.

A stereotype comes into existence when people notice a statistically significant pattern.

Emotions are a consequence of evaluation. First one observes an object, then compares it to a standard of value, then makes a value judgment whether or not it is a value, then that judgment is accompanied by an emotion of like or dislike and the desire to gain or keep or avoid or get rid of the object.

Since it is a consequence, it is not a means of knowledge or survival, or a proper guide to action, like reason is.

Literally put, the emotions’ role is to provide the impetus to act (the passion) once the intellect has determined what that action should be.

Yep...Long ago observed the inability of Rats in my own family to engage in the process described above.

Common sense? Another liberal trope that substitutes for facts. There is a factual basis for stereotypes, but they aren’t universal.

Why not, a 2 y.o. likes the feeling of a warm dump in their pants, they think it feels good therefore they don’t mind it. liberals have the same feeling about their opinions, to everybody else it smells like SHt, but to them ..it feels good so it must be good!
