What did I process incorrectly? That you put no qualifiers on your statement that shoplifting is a felony? I know of no state where all shoplifting is a felony. Obviously, if you shoplift a diamond ring from a jewelry store, that's a felony because of its value, but if you shoplift a candy bar it isn't.
I do not believe all shoplifting should be prosecuted as felonious. Since you are an attorney, I am surprised that you are not more exacting in your language.
