Doesn’t look at all like Elvis.

Mississippi’s a basket case. Obesity, Jackson the capitol is a s—thole and the blacks ain’t going nowhere with their lives. Paul Thuroux wrote about it in “Deep South”. We might be in for a reckoning. Was the rat senator Jones from that state? Wicker nominated with an open primary?

A Siena college poll

Could be. And I wouldn't underestimate the power of the Presley name. (But I doubt that the majority of Siena college students or faculty could find Mississippi on a map.)

“I would not vote for Reeves if I lived down there that’s for sure over the mask order.”

I think the name for that is “cutting off your nose to spite your face”.

Southern Republican governors believe in Big Business-Big Government partnerships including Brian Kemp in Georgia who had “guts” to show up in person in Davos.

Reeves was there in spirit along with Kay Ivey in Alabama and the list goes on.

Here in Kentucky, it is really a miracle Republicans get elected to anything. Most of the morons here and even more so in West Virginia still think it is 1935 and FDR is controlling things. They want both guns AND food stamps!

Getting a spineless GOP Governor is what happens when Mississippi doesn’t have a CLOSED PRIMARY.

Why would the GOP want the Democrats to pick the weakest GOP candidate in the primary????

Mississippi: Voters do not have to register with a party, but they must intend to support the party nominations if they vote in the primary election

So you prefer to have a Rat governor?

What you’re failing to consider is the choices that are available to you.

There’s a saying that applies here - “Perfection is the enemy of the good”.

WV has changed to a great extent. Still in transition, “government cheese “ still has great appeal. Only 11 Rat House of delegate members and 4 Rat state senators. So, the GOP has super majorities in the state legislature. “Unionism” also still has great significance in people’s thinking. Given all that, the state teachers and employees unions aren’t in as bad a financial shape as one would think. That fact shocked me when we moved back here. Someone (likely more then one!) showed some rare constraint. The WV state legislature has made some good moves. The biggest setback was the rejection of the 5 state constitution amendments that would have modernized the state constitution - improved business environment and allowed a stronger check (better Legislative oversight!) on the educational establishment. Maybe next time!
