I’m US born and bred, of Irish descent.
I am a native, of a sort, of three countries. Empires are like that. “Globalization” is ooold. My lot went “East of Suez” before there was a Suez. Grandpa and dad and my uncle, Spaniards all, all worked their whole lives for British “Hongs” in Asia, and Hong Kong was a nice place for Christmas shopping. So we grew up on Enid Blyton and Cadburys and Britains. My wife and daughter used to go to London every year. Then there is the Spanish and the Filipino and American - I’m a born globalist.
If you think you are avoiding that - you cant. That barn door was opened and the horse ran off 125 years ago. William Mckinley and Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson and all those guys went and demolished the barn door, and the barn with it - well, maybe your great-grandpa could have argued harder, but you have no time machines.
Suck it up. You can’t live on fantasies.
