The Canadian Air Force can't shoot down balloons?
The Canadian Forces operate the CF-18 Hornet. Its service ceiling is 50,000 ft.
USAF operates the F-15 Eagle and F-22 Raptor; both have service ceiling significantly in excess of 60,000 ft.
We're simply better equipped to deal with very high altitude targets.
The Canucks could probably have bought F-15s from us ... we sold them to a bunch of other countries. They chose otherwise, a long time ago, and here we are.
