When do you stop pretending this is not a Russian war of conquest vs. a neighboring sovereign country.

Hodges knows far more than his critics, however fighters alone will not end the war by themselves. Air power helped win both Gulf Wars because it was the US and Allies versus Iraq, not Ukraine versus the Russian front line VVS. For starters, the USAF had protected ground bases while Ukraine is operating from temporary mobile bases on highways to avoid attack.

First choices are any remaining MiGs' or Sukhoi's in Eastern European countries, replaced by F-16's. If Ukraine gets non-Russian aircraft, the most likely one is the F-16. Using AMRAAMS on cruise missiles would help deter Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure and serve as better HARM platforms. Russia is not looking forward to getting reminded how T-72s fared in Iraq, they will not like Ukrainian pilots flying more MiG's and Sukhoi's, or F-16's.

What is missed in all this, if it gets to the point where Ukraine can use and not lose non-Russian combat aircraft like the F-16, then Ukraine will almost certainly be on the way to winning before they arrive. For this subject to have serious high level discussions means the US and allies are thinking that long term, Ukraine is going to win.

Actually..... Hohos trying to fly F16s might just be funny enough that the US govt could make money selling tickets.....

I think Aaron should do what Brady did - go to Tampa Bay for the next 3 or 4
years.

“”Not anyone can just hop in the cockpit and fly them jets.””

Several other factoids. For any kind of real air force / air cover, you also need mechanics who are experienced with the specific plane, extra planes for when planes are down for service AND spare parts.

With all the horsepuckey info coming out of Ukraine, I am not sure what to believe. I remember that several countries, including the USA, promised to protect Ukraine when they, foolishly, agreed to give up their nukes. You’d have thought the 1930s Terror Famine would have taught them you cannot trust anyone.

Also, many democRATS, and no doubt some RINOs, used Ukraine for ungodly amounts of money laundering. If the Ruskies can find those records, they will own those people like the Chicoms own Obama / Biden Regime.

So you think we won 2 gulf wars? Hmm maybe you’re a Ukraine flag waving stooge for either that gov or the US.
Fact is Ukraine needs to be crushed. Crushed hard and it’s happening by the Russians and by Nato.
Im sorry you’ve been sucked into all the propaganda that Russia bad and Uke good. They’re both bad and you’re supporting one of them. It’s fascinating how our government can even get its own conservative citizens on board, thru great propaganda, to potentially destroy the earth over a corrupt government that’s been prodding Russians since 2014.

I could really give a rats ass about either country. They should be left alone to settle this themselves.

I have done business with Ukes and Rusks. With the former you count your fingers after shaking hands and with the latter you watch your back. Ukes try and renegotiate after signing and Rusks live up to deals. Different Orks.

There is another change in the pro-Russia side's posts. Just pile on as many personal attacks as they can think of per post. Its been more noticeable this week. Between #24 and 30 on this thread, that was over 2 dozen insults.

The long promised and hyped Russian Winter Offensive must be running into problems. It is embarrassing when it takes a few days for Ukraine or anyone else, to tell the difference between the Big Winter Attack from any other day of the week.

Maybe the Putin fan club is in then anger and denial stages of grieving?

A war was never won by air power alone. But the flyboys always say it can. Hodges went to the USMA so he should know better.

Many of our pro-Putin crowd here are suffering from a derangement syndrome. Brought on by incessant WEF propaganda, The Scamdemic, Biden/Democrats blowing trillions on garbage and green new deal handouts to companies bound to fail. Also by Ron Paul isolationist thinking.

They also love to fantasize that Ukraine is the world’s largest Democrat laundering machine. I doubt that this money laundering sum is more than 20 million

That would be great if the US came in with fighter jets under the NATO umbrella to get that quick victory.

What would that quick victory in the Ukraine bring not only to the battleground itself, but the world, too? The Ruskies have said that if they lose the situation will go nuclear.

The only kind of quick victory that this will bring is quick, pyrrhic victory in which everyone will lose.

Maybe a global, thermonuclear war isn’t pyrrhic enough for some FReepers around here. That’s fine. After the cities, military bases, and other strategic targets in the US and Europe are turned to ash there will certainly be enough radioactive fallout afterward!

If, for some crazy reason, that isn’t enough for them I’m sure a nuclear winter and crop failures will do the job.

We had utter and complete air superiority in S Vietnam and dropped, I’m fairly sure, many more tons of bombs than was used on Germany. Yet we couldn’t get victory there.

Why would a dozen or 2 F16s give us “quick” victory in Ukraine???

“ All told, the U.S. Air Force flew 5.25 million sorties over South Vietnam, North Vietnam, northern and southern Laos, and Cambodia, losing 2,251 aircraft: 1,737 to hostile action, and 514 in accidents. 2,197 of the losses were fixed-wing, and the remainder rotary-wing. The USAF sustained approximately 0.4 losses per 1,000 sorties during the conflict, which compared favorably with a 2.0 rate in Korea and a 9.7 figure during World War II.[9][10]: 268 ”

“Former top US general: Jets could seal quick Ukraine victory”

They won a Super Bowl OVER 50 YEARS AGO and have been lucky to even have a winning season since. So if Ukraine is STUPID ENOUGH to think the Jets can turn them around, then they deserve what’s coming.
