Company reversed its decision to ban Lauren Southern's parents after she publicly criticized it on social media
Popular short-term housing and vacation stay rental service Airbnb admitted it made a "mistake" in banning conservative provocateur Lauren Southern’s parents from using its service this week.
According to Southern, a far-right content creator who used to work for conservative Canadian outlet Rebel News, Airbnb alerted her parents that they were barred from renting a property for a "romantic getaway" because of their daughter’s political activity.
Airbnb had banned Southern previously and claimed it extended that ban to her parents.
Southern revealed the ban Tuesday on Twitter, writing, "My parents just got banned from AirBnB for being related to me. They have never booked anything for me. They do not represent me in any way. They aren't publicly political in any way."
She asked, "How is this sane in any way @Airbnb[?]" In addition to her question, Southern shared an image of the official notice that was provided to her parents after they tried to book their getaway.
It stated, "We’ve removed you from the Airbnb platform because your account is closely associated with a person who isn’t allowed to use Airbnb. This means you’ll no longer be able to book reservations on Airbnb."
It further elaborated, "For the safety of our community, we may remove accounts that are closely associated with people who aren’t allowed to use Airbnb."
The notice offered Southern’s parents options for a refund and stated they could appeal the decision.

Use VRBO. Not sure if they are woke yet.
I don’t know of a single company that isn’t “woke” to some degree.
First they kick you off social media, then they close your bank accounts and payment systems like paypal, and if that doesn’t work they now go after your parents.
There’s a word for it. Totalitarianism.

The mistake was getting caught
I’m in a bind. Suggestions welcome. I’m a pretty successful Airbnb host - 2 rental properties that have started grossing over 6 figures every year. Kind of started as a what the hell experiment that grew into quite the side hustle. I’m now building a third rental on the property that I expect will also rent well.
These stories sicken me, and I would like to leave. But, VRBO doesn’t have the same reach as Airbnb and may be just as woke for all I know (or at this rate may become so soon after I would switch). I guess I could start listing with both. It’s getting harder and harder to escape these lunatics...
Many of the people listing on AirBnb have the same units available FOR LESS elsewhere. Avoid the woke and the middleman fees at the same time...
Airbnb wasn’t first in this game. In fact they were pretty late. They just had a good brand and marketing. I don’t expect they will dominate forever and it would be wise for you to diversify the services you use in case airbnb goes unbearably woke.
