Not just after the Cold War. No matter how much was disclosed about the political debacle in VIetnam by our government and the useless loss of American lives, including some of my friends and fellow soldiers, people believed the Government and the need to do whatever possible to stop Russian influence. We never fought to win just feed the military industrial complex.
Today we are feeding the MIC and feeding the corrupt govt in Ukraine. At least until this point we are not losing our soldiers in that War.

Thank the Good Lord for THAT. It is the only good thing that can be said about that war. But I suspect the Ukie cheerleaders in our government and the MIC would have no problem sending our troops to another war if they believed they could get away with it. The only thing keeping them from committing US troops is public opinion.
