Militarily speaking, it was limited because the Russian army didn’t use their doctrine for all-out war. They wanted to seize the territory that had previously voted to return to Russian rule.

Russia used their entire range of conventional forces. It was an all out war. The alternative is what they did in 2014, which was not all out war. Based on 2014, they assumed that the Ukrainians would fold quickly, so they could just march on Kiev and Odessa. Their goal was all of Ukraine. And no territory had voted to rejoin Russia other than Crimea.

NO they didn’t. I actually study Russian Order of Battle. Stop repeating the same lie. They didn’t even follow Russian doctrine. Armies make mistakes, then they learn from it. Except Americans, of course. We still don’t follow our doctrine.

We can agree the Russians made some grievous errors. We can also agree it exposed some deep corruption in the IG system. But they have been remedied.

Now you have a Russian Army that is focused, and methodical. To boot, their military industrial complex has shifted to war-time mode. They have already won and it will be borne out in about 2 months.

I am sure you would have said the same thing a year ago.

Bring something substantive to the conversation, or just keep quiet.

You’ve just made the case that not only is this all out war, but Russia has moved to a war economy, aka Total War.

From a Russian perspective, yes, it is now.

redgolum The West is supplying Ukraine in order to eat up Russian men and material and hopefully delay WW3 until the US can get enough troops in Germany and Poland to contest the next phase of the war.

Until 2013 I was sure that WWIII would bypass Europe. I'm not so sure now, but I still think there is a chance for that

Why?

Because Europe is slowly losing its importance

Right now it is 25% of world output, but as Asia keeps rising, as does Africa and South America -- while North America is still rising slowly

Europe should lose more and more importance by the end of the century

Good for them. US and Canada don’t.

Worry about your own yard.

You bore me with your room temp IQ and juvenile speech. I have apprentices with more intelligence, and that’s saying a lot these days. Too many people here know I’m Albertan. I really don’t care what you think. You hate America, but I love my southern neighbor. You want to kill Americans and Ukrainians wholesale, while continually plunging the US and the west into more and more debt. You don’t care if the last Ukrainian dies. The ones I’ve talked to in Grande Prairie all blame Zelensky for their problems. I guess they’re all wrong and don’t know anything. You contribute nothing to society but death and destruction. You go ahead with that path. I’ll oppose it. Thankfully there’s still a few of us men with critical thinking power left. God made me and gave me a brain. At least I use mine.

Good day. May the winds favour you and not cover you in chlorine clouds. I’ll not reply to you anymore sadly. My yearly allotment of talking with tots has been exceeded.
