There is no way anything like this huge Chinese spy balloon passed over the US without military and public reaction.
I suspect the reason nobody of significance was informed is because unlike this incident, those balloons were of no significance. Probably small, disposable balloons with a radiosonde or some other lightweight instrument package that are launched all over the world every day. It’s possible a few make it from China to the US. I know our weather guessers launched them from my ships all the time. After a few hours, they were lost and forgotten, and nobody really cared where they went...

That may well be, but we still need to know the history behind theses balloons. And what we’re going to do about the next one before it traverses the country.
