So what is used to host the virtual machine?

Microsoft Surface Pros for employees who carry them back and forth to the office for the two or three days a week they're in.

For remote contractors, whatever they use for their company. We previously had them connecting remotely to dedicated PCs in the office but now they're connecting to Windows Virtual Devices (WVD). Prior to 2019 we had 20 dedicated machines but now we're down to 5 dedicated machines due to software restrictions and have 30+ virtual machine users.

"So what is used to host the virtual machine?"

Just one more robust machine instead of 10 individual ones.
