IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO. It would be for acting against Israel, the apple of His eye...and, on that score, Turkey’s government has been distinctly anti-Israel for quite some time.

That said, not everything has to occur because you say that God did it for X reason. God set up everything in nature, specifically including the tectonic plates and their movements, and most of the time He doesn’t intervene in events, He lets things take the natural course that He planned for things long ago.

I think that it is the height of arrogance to state in such definite terms that “God did X for Y reason” - and this applies to anyone who says this type of things, not just you. Take a step back and realize that God’s ways are not the ways of men, and that mere men cannot fathom more than a tiny fraction of what God’s will may be.

Correction:

“IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO.”

should be

“IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would *NOT* be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO.
