Will Aid to Ukraine Be Diverted to Ally Turkey? [Vanity]

As I stay up working and watching the news reports from Turkey I am left with the conclusion that the war in Ukraine just ended--surrender or defeat--no longer our concern or focus. NATO ally Turkey clearly needs our and Europe's immediate help.

Yes, maybe this is what was needed, sadly, to end the Ukraine war. We cannot ignore ally Turkey and cannot afford to aid both.

Thoughts?

It slipped my mind that Turkey is a NATO member, you may be onto something here.

Russia is going to provide aid to Turkey, which it did many times when it happened

Turkey is not a USA ally.

Turkey President Recep Erdogan is a Muslim dictator who fully supports the Islamic dictatorship in Iran.

When Turkey joined NATO in 1952, Turkey was a secular state that energetically resisted Communism in all its forms.

Ah, yes, not a good ally, maybe on par with India. But in the case of Turkey, they are a member of NATO, we have bases in Turkey, thus more reason and national interest to help Turkey over Ukraine.

A very astute observation.

At what cost? No, Ukraine is not a national concern, not an ally, not a member of NATO, etc. To spend a penny more on these folks takes away from our own needs, plus those of our real allies, such as NATO member Turkey.

Your point is well said, the Turkey of then is not the Turkey of now. Just look at why they are fighting Sweden and Finland joining NATO. Turkey has been attacking the Kurds for decades and we have turned a blind eye to that

Nothing is simple or black and white
We can support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and support Turkey after the earthquake

Guess we shouldn’t have helped England and Europe in the 40s. Wasn’t our war. So your stance is Russia would have taken Ukraine and that was the end of it? If so I disagree

England and Europe are far more deserving than corrupt Ukraine. We kind of stirred up that war and have encouraged it to continue to bleed Russia. Time to stop and move on.

Re: "We have bases in Turkey, thus more reason and national interest to help Turkey over Ukraine."

Why does Turkey need our help with anything, including earthquakes?

Turkey has 85 million people and a purchase parity GDP of $3.5 trillion.

Turkey has exported at least 5 million of its low skill, low education, angry, young, Muslim males to Europe.

Someone needs to tell dictator Erdogan that Big Boys are supposed to take care of themselves.

I may have missed it. But I don’t recall seeing any Turkish aid going to people suffering from hurricane damage in Florida, recent round of bad weather in the South or Superstorm Sandy. Am I wrong?

Did we actually ask for or need help? Seriously, you’re stretching here.

Unless you count the Cajun Navy!

To be honest neither do I. I do recall some Israeli crews with dogs coming over for a building collapse.

Reliable ally? I think not:

“Did we actually ask for or need help?”

Trust me if you’re involved in a earthquake a wide path of destruction we’ll take help from wherever you can get it. By the way the people in Pajaro Valley, California would accept any help they could get right now.

If Turkey is anti-West, then maybe they are still resisting communism(?)
