I herd the reason is there is more of a chance to hit the electronics they want to study versus using the sidewinder… don’t know if that’s true just reporting what I read

When those electronics hit the ground (or water) they will be useless anyway

All they have to do is use some ball rounds in the gun... (Regular lead) non explosive, and put one burst Into the balloon... It would come down slow enough not to create a massive wreak on the ground. That’s why I think this is all a bunch of bull shit.
