The story eluded the misinformation’ filters by presenting as a UFO report and the air force rushed to debunk it as a flying saucer.
Maybe something like that?
Heard it did not become public until seen by a civilian on a commercial flight.
First cover story that it was a runaway NYC Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon of Thomas the Tank Engine didn’t have traction.
Then, just another alien spacecraft on the way to do crop circles and abduct people from their beds didn’t work, either.
Finally “We probably should tell the truth to the American people.”
In a 5 to 4 vote the White House staff agreed.
