Kentucky woman Brittney Hislope ‘lovesick’ for Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger

Accused quadruple murderer Bryan Kohberger is driving one woman crazy — in love.

Brittney Hislope insists he’s the “perfect man” for her.

“My love interest … is named Bryan and is accused of murder, and I just wish to connect with him above anyone else,” the 35-year-old Kentucky single mom of a 16-year-old son gushed in one of her many Facebook posts about Kohberger, whom she has never met or communicated with.

“One way to describe my feelings for him over the last week or so … is kind of like being lovesick.”

Hislope began posting publicly about her infatuation on Jan. 4 — just five days after Kohberger was arrested in the fatal Nov. 13 stabbings of four college students in Moscow, Idaho.

Hislope, who repeatedly points to her and Kohberger’s astrological signs — they are both Scorpios — and birth charts as explaining why he could be her “divine masculine counterpart,” isn’t just drawn to the former criminology PhD student for his smarts and quiet courtroom demeanor.

It’s a paraphilia called Hybristophilia and mainly impacts women. Reasons for their attraction to criminals include:

Low self esteem and the lack of a father figure.
Some believe they can change a man as cruel and powerful as a serial killer.
Others 'see' the little boy that the killer once was and seek to nurture him.
A few hoped to share in the media spotlight or get a book or movie deal.

Then there's the notion of the 'perfect boyfriend'. She knows where he is at all times and she knows he's thinking about her. While she can claim that someone loves her, she does not have to endure the day-to-day issues involved in most relationships. There’s no laundry to do, no cooking for him, and no accountability to him. She can keep the fantasy charged up for a long time.

She’s in a different sort of prison, the one between her ears. She thrives on fantasy love romance that she can’t nor should receive in reality. Only killer bad boys are her thing. Good luck with that frustrating lunacy.

One motive is that a man in prison is "safe." He can't cheat on her. She always knows where he is.

Another motive is women's attraction to "dangerous" alpha males.

Why do women fall in love with Death Row inmates?

A: There is very little chance of them getting out and being with you. They are usually abusive which gets you pity from other crazy people. Death Row inmates don’t usually get commissary so they are low cost

Early in career I primarily focused on criminal law. One immutable truth:

The more notorious the murder, the more female admirers. They would often attempt to send graphic Polaroids to their “love” interest.

You must not be familiar with the "modern" family courts, which overlook all kinds of things for mommies dearest - chronic intentional unemployment, drug addiction, emotional and mental abuse of the children, etc . Even in cases so egregious they have to give the kids to dad, many courts go out of their way to make life hell for dad and the kids.

I have a friend, who was about to leave the Marines for a good paying civilian job. His wife went home to visit family with their kids. He received a late night phone call from his MIL and SIL that his wife (while visiting) was high on heroin, and he needed drop everything and drive from NC to MI to get the kids as far away from her as possible, immediately.

Turns out mommy dearest had a heroin addiction, was involved in prostitution, and "starring" in amateur porn to pay for her habit. Even with her own mother and sister's testimony, of the same, against her, the judge decreed my friend had to stay in NC and couldn't move the children b/c mommy had a right to easy access to those kids.

He couldn't last minute re-enlist in the Marines b/c he'd have to deploy and would certainly lose custody. He couldn't take the job out of state b/c it was against the court order.....he wound up struggling on minimum wage during the remainder of the long, drawn out custody battle. Bear in mind, this is with the testimony from the slore's own immediate family that she was high in front of the kids.

Luckily, a more well off family member was able to move to NC so he and the kids had a place to live while everything slowly snaked through the courts.

Britney's not “lovesick” and foolish of the writer to say so. Rather she's one of countless needy women with low self-esteem - in need of attention any way that has a possibility of happening. But in her case she wants the media attention and where having that might lead....and she's stupid enough to be sucked by anyone who can paint a pretty picture of her future if she goes with them
