The current purpose of HR is to avoid having the company get hit with a discrimination lawsuit.
It's not HR, it's Congress and the courts. HR is just the people that senior management put there to try to ensure that the wolves eat them last.
Also a big factor is that the Left gets to decide what is “Controversial”, and if it’s one thing companies always want to avoid, it’s controversy.
That does not work. Anyone can file a lawsuit for anything. No one can show me any evidences of the lawsuits that were NOT filed because HR was doing such a good job.
I would speculate that these departments along with their toxic training encourages more suits not less.
