You forget the main reason. People like Liz Warren and Ted Cruz receive multi-million dollar book advances for books no one will read.
It is one of the more direct ways for moneyed interest to buy themselves a loyal politician.

The title does not indicate that it’s an auto biography. It’s a blueprint for getting something done. Like “The Art of the Deal”

ALL autobiographies are at least written while still alived.
President Grant published his "Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant" while alive. He was neither a narcissist nor a clown. He WAS broke, however, and the book saved the family's finances. It was also a great book, and not a ghost-written hack job.
