Your view of what a traditionalist Christian country should entail is white bread protestant with zero understanding of differences across cultures.

The red star predates the USSR, for instance.

The Soviet flag is a joke of sorts, referring to WW2.
Russians on forums are laughing about how easily Americans panic.

Are you familiar with the rise of the multipolar world?
the countries you left out as joining with Russia/brics are Saudi Arabia, UAE, India, Turkey, Egypt, Senegal, Thailand, and Indonesia.

I am aware that Catholic and Orthodox spirituality differs from that of Protestantism. However, please look at postwar West Germany, about evenly divided between Protestants and Catholics. There was a full accounting by the West German government for the crimes of the Nazis. Numerous former Nazis were imprisoned, and several billion dollars were paid to the Jewish victims of wartime persecution. Has Russia, or for that matter, the former Soviet republics and the Warsaw Pact nations, repented for crimes far worse than those of the Nazis? Virtually all the Communist criminals, if not alive, died in their own beds or in a hospital. The Russians were correct in restoring the honor of the former Tsar Nicholas II and his family. They have also acknowledged their role in the Katyn Massacre. However, by the 1990s, all the murderers of the Tsar were long dead, as probably were the participants in the Katyn Massacre. However, these were small matters compared to persecutions of Christians and other dissidents that continued into the 1980s. You will not find a statue to Hitler or any other Nazi in all of Germany. Yet statues to Lenin can be found in numerous locations in Russia.

I am familiar with the multipolar world, and it isn't a bad idea. The Founding Fathers never intended the United States to be a world power, much less a world hegemon. Rome, Spain, Britain, and other nations have had their rise and fall, and America appears headed to the same fate as the others.
