Even before World War II, when there were arguments between Isolationists and Interventionists, the vast majority on both sides agreed that Hitler was a bad guy, and therefore after Pearl Harbor, the country was united when we were at a State of War with Germnany.
I don’t see that kind of concensus happening again in this country when it comes to an enemy.
Yep. Also, at the time of WWII, most Americans had a very positive view of the country, they believed in America and were anxious to defend it. I really believe that we would lose WWIII even with our overwhelming technological superiority.

Nixon explained in detail what would happen if we did not accept Russia as a friend and helped them after the fall of the USSR. That interview was in 93 or 94.
