The “football” being near Putin in nothing unusual. Heck, our “football” is always near our President.

Real Americans, the ones that support wars and fight in wars will mostly be sitting this one out. They don’t have a dog in this fight. For them America has already been destroyed. Good luck instituting a draft. Lol.

“If you sow the wind you reap the whirlwind.”

The US govt. went looking for trouble on Russia’s border, on the opposite side of the planet and has found it. We’re going to regret this.

My country is not Ukraine. Neither is it Russia.

I do take offense to a foreign leader promising to hurt my country and countrymen.

Every FReeper should be so concerned.

We can and should debate actions that have led us to this point, but be ever vigilant and protective of the United States of America.

A decrepit American leader and a half-mad Russian leader. What possibly could go wrong?

Putin is a deranged psycho.

Hey, no big deal - a lot of the same folks who tell us he's crazy and dying, have also assured us he'll never use nuclear weapons. Plus, Joe Biden's in charge on this side! Nothin' to worry about!

A war with Russia brings on Civil War 2.0 here.

Exactly. Nuclear weapons cost a lot of money even if they’re just sitting around. And they have to be replaced frequently.

The Russians are still without their nuclear weapons factory at Mayak after a disaster in 2017.

I guess the Neocons will simply have to learn the hard way that Russian patience, like that of any country, has limits.

We’ll, there’s one good thing about total nuclear war. It gets climate change and the debt ceiling fight off the front page.

I don’t think any of these so-called experts have the faintest idea what they’re getting into. Most wars start out with lofty intentions and tidy scenarios on paper and deteriorate from there.

You noticed that too?

But, most of the friends he's pointing to, are members of the democrat party left, aka: communists and progressives. Those democrats friends of Putin actually included Biden and his inner circle who are running the presidency. The reason Biden and company are arming Ukraine is because they have no choice, else they'll have a second Afghanistan in their hands. Biden and company would like the war to end, with Russian winning, even if they only get parts of Ukraine.

Putin provides a good show of being a believing Russian Orthodox Christian. It is amazing how much mileage he gets from paleoconservatives in attending the liturgy every so often and making the Sign of the Cross now and again. Few conservatives believe that Biden is a good Christian, his regular attendance at Mass notwithstanding.

The argument is posted that the Russian regime does not tolerate the public display of sexual perversion, much less push "gay rights". True, but the Russians and for that matter the Chinese are carrying on the policies from the Stalinist and Maoist eras, respectively. After the Russian Revolution, the Soviets tried sexual freedom, but backed away from it after seeing the effects of extreme permissiveness. Stalin saw its failures more clearly than Biden or even Trump. The Soviet tyrant was not Christian, but he was sufficiently pragmatic to recognize that stable families were necessary to maintain social order and cohesion.
