Still the case. just not as often.
It’s not/wasn’t the police parking lot though, its the Bus station across the street. Easy enough to leave cars long term due to being a bus station.
Police public lot has room for maybe 5 cars, 2 handicapped.

This was the PD just off the El Camino a little south of Denny’s.
I know it well and at the time (80’s) they had a fairly large lot, no idea now.
One of the tow companies was located across the fence from my workshop.
Cars went to insurance auction if the Ins. had paid out.
