The thought occurs:
Suppose congress makes the Archivists an honorary volunteer position? 99% of that stuff his inconsequential. They could get somebody from the CIA to take care of the cloak and dagger 1% leftover. Besides, why should China get to see it but not us?
Most of all, I think of all the talent that’s wasted in the capital, languishing beneath the shadow of their spouse’s brilliant success. It’s time we let them shine.
alternatively, move all of it including staff permanently to mt. rushmore, sd.
include a mandatory cost-of-living “adjustment.”
then we will see which public servants really love their jobs so much that they will move to someplace that most of them consider are the boonies.
