Ron DeSantis returns fire against Donald Trump, contends voters’ ‘verdict’ on the Governor is in

'America's Governor' points to the scoreboard in response to the former President's fulminations. Gov. Ron DeSantis is finally on offense against former President Donald Trump, spotlighting the two men’s most recent elections.

Trump, who has attacked DeSantis repeatedly since before the November 2022 election, had gotten away with relative impunity slamming the man he’s dubbed “Ron DeSanctimonious.” The most recent attack was on DeSantis’ handling of COVID-19.

But at a press conference in Bradenton, the Governor said the people of Florida had “rendered” their “verdict” with his re-election last year, offering yet another preview of a potential 2024 GOP Primary slugfest between the former allies.

“What I would just say is this. I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles. It’s been happening for many, many years,” DeSantis said.

“If you take a crisis situation like COVID, the good thing is that if you’re an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions. You’ve got to steer that ship. And the good thing is, the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they re-elect you or not.”

“I’m happy to say that, you know, in my case, not only did we win re-election, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican Governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida,” DeSantis said, noting his raw vote margin “nearly doubled” the previous record.

“That verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida,” DeSantis added to applause.

Voting for the neocon DeSantis is a vote for WW3. Keep that in mind.

Trump does get personal. Some days it appears that a lot of conservatives have regressed to grade school. I cannot be the only one who is tired of all the juvenile nicknames and acronyms. You almost need an interpreter to decipher posts.

Trump does get personal.

Yes, he does. And he doesn't need to.

“Why? He’s not running.”

Fine, then not a problem - but he’s listed in every poll that I’ve seen.

The RINOs need someone to carry out their plan of derailing Trump in 2024 as the RINOs tried to do in 2016 and did do in 2020. Hopefully DeSantis is smart enough not to step into the role of sacrificial lamb to the Democrats like Romney and McCain.

Let no one forget that the RINOs absolutely wanted Hillary Clinton to be President in 2016. They had Yeb Bush or Chris Christie lined up to take the dive but MAGA Man Trump ruined their plans.

Not going to make the same mistake twice, the RINOs again collaborated with their Democrat counterparts in 2020, this time to steal the elections of 2020 and again in 2022.

Trust no RINO. As President Trump said, "It's not me they're after, it's you. I'm just in their way."

“You mean act like an ass to everyone in his way?”

Sure, if that will bring in the 20 Million votes - but it won’t bring in my vote, so figure on 19,999,999 Trump votes for him, at best.

If Desantis wants to run in 2024 he will be a formidable candidate.

I think he has figured out how deal with Trumps strategy and he has built up a very good resume to combat Trump's techniques.

Still think Trump is the right guy for the job but it is going to be interesting.

Trump needs to up his game as his old shtick is getting old and wearing thin. Low Energy Jeb, Little Marco and Sleepy Joe just ain't gonna cut it next time around, even if Crooked Hillary never goes out of style.

One thing Trump really needs to do is address his absolutely terrible judgment in people and appointments and express to the American people how this time will be different.

Understand what he was dealing with and how badly he got screwed, but it just can't happen again. His back door support of Rona Romney McDaniels for RNC chair does not exactly inspire confidence in this area.

“DeSantis did not make it personal, it was well stated. Like him more every day.”

A numbers argument (a mistake if anyone actually looks at them). And of course numbers don’t lie, but liars use numbers.

I like DeSantis as governor and have voted for him twice. Here is where the numbers come in, Trump’s vote total in Florida was 5,668,731, DeSantis’ vote total 4,613,783. While DeSantis might have won by a higher percentage, he got over a million less people to vote for him than Trump.

I know some whiners are going to say, well a presidential election is different. True, but no where a million vote different from the Gov totals. Usually the vote difference is half that.

In essence Trump way outperformed DeSantis.

right ... and the purpose of the polls? Make DeSantis people and TRump people fight each other. I believe Paul Ryan is behind the whole thing ... and it looks like he’s succeeding ...

Agree, assuming that DeSantis has a reasonable grasp on the DC Media (including our ‘friends’ at many sites), he’ll know enough to NOT try running against Trump, but will simply let this opportunity slide, and then move ahead in 2028, when Trump will be through (or at least Trump voters will be through with him)...rather than being blamed as the ONE PERSON who caused Trump to lose, by fighting him in the Primaries.

he has never wavered ... he said he will focus on Florida ... he has a wife with health issues ... he has young kids ... he has no desire to go to DC at this point in time ... it’s not about letting an opportunity ‘slide’ ...

There is two years. That’s a lifetime in politics. I’m not 100% behind anybody at this point. It’s too early and currently only Trump has announced.

From reading, it sounds like all DeSantis said was that the voters of Florida showed how much they like him...

Nothing was said pro or con about Trump...
