Actor Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will be charged on Tuesday with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Western “Rust” in 2021, a New Mexico prosecutor said.
The charges follow 15 months of speculation whether District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies would find evidence Baldwin showed criminal disregard for safety when a revolver he was rehearsing with fired a live round that killed Hutchins.
The “30 Rock” actor has denied responsibility for the shooting, saying he cocked the revolover but never pulled the trigger and it was the job of Gutierrez-Reed and other weapons professionals to ensure it was unloaded.

Cutting corners typically poses risk of some sort.
They are the most reasonable, and least biased of the sources that I peruse.
They also have a smaller output volume than other MSM, and you correctly see they are mature in their journalism.
Yahoo is full of Yahoos.
I can attest to that
sadly
“As someone said, he could have slip-fired the weapon.”
Not relevant. Even if the impossible happened (gun fired itself) he still committed involuntary manslaughter. Since Bruce Lee Son died Hollywood recommended several safety rules. No real gun shall be pointed at another person. Watch closely any modern day movie it is all done with movie magic. The closes they are supposed to point a gun is near line of fire and any actor who is required to stand near the line of fire should be allowed to witness the loading of the firearms.
These are strong recommendations though technically not enforced. But knowing this and carelessness is grounds for at least manslaughter.
D’oh!!
Criminal Negligence was what I was basically saying there.
Just didn’t get the phrase attached.
Brandon Lee, IIRC, died when a blank was put behind a prop-bullet (for the viewing angle from the front) - the blank pushed that into him.
I don’t recall what the final outcome of all that was, except BL was dead.
when a revolver he was rehearsing with fired a live round that killed Hutchins.
The revolver didn't fire the round...Baldwin did.
I researched all of that and can confirm accuracy.
Baldwin as Producer is completely responsible for the conditions on set that caused the death of the cinematographer, and he interfered with several employees ability to enforce safety procedures.
Unfortunately the Armorer was not experienced enough to lock up all arms & ammo, resign and report to the sheriff.
She could have saved a life at the cost of her career.
Correct on both points.
He’ll probably be dressed up in his Trump costume for the mugshot
There is no way on earth that Baldwin did not know gun safety
. He’s worked with guns and weapons specialists on dozens of films and movies. There is no way a live round gets in there unless someone put it in there on purpose. The armorer wouldnt do it on purpose.norhing to gain and everything to lose. Everything points to Baldwin. Find the motive for killing her and you’ll find why he did it If this were any situation except a rich and powerful actor they’d be rotting in jail
Movies are make believe. The director yelled “cold gun”, and Baldwin the actor was entitled to believe him.
The one role he had that may expose him to criminal guilt is as producer. He apparently hired an an incompetent and inexperienced armorer to save money, and as a result it is reasonable for him to share in her obvious guilt.
Alec Baldwin
That guy...........truly a raging liberal
Yes, there are a lot of different stories and individuals seeking to save their own skins.
I just want to see him perp walked into court for arraignment. Orange suit, chained at the wrists, waist, and leg irons.
Slip fire pistols have to have the trigger tied back to make it a slip fire. If that trigger was not tied back then the trigger had to be pulled to make it fire.
Blame should be placed on the armorer who allowed a live round in the firearm, And Baldwin who should not even have pointed it at someone and pulled the trigger.
I am reminded of John Erik Hexum who took while fooling around on the set, took a blank loaded firearm, put it to his head, and pulled the trigger killing himself with a blank loaded firearm.
[There is no way a live round gets in there unless someone put it in there on purpose.]
Weren’t the crew using that weapon for target practice in between shoots? (no pun intended)
Absolutely insane to use a prop for live fire.
Since it’s Baldwin’s gig, he allowed that to happen.
