That was his first mistake.
NEVER OPEN THE DAM DOOR.
IF ITS UNEXPECTED, DON’T EVER OPEN THE DOOR.
IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHO IT IS, DON’T OPEN THE DOOR.
Besides, if they do then tryto break in, they have to expend some energy, and they wont move so quick, easier slower target. Maybe an optimal target while trying to break in.
Good on him.

You are correct. It’s bad that the older guy was injured and hospitalized, but good that he managed to get the job done that needed to be doing. We need more of that. Just as the Sheriff in Florida said yesterday, criminals need to realize that there will be repercussions for their actions. Some of those repercussions are swift and unexpected.
Some folks of that age might never fully recover from a surprise attack like that one. An attack in both physical and emotional sense.
Not every senior can absorb a hammer’s blow to the skull, then go out to the opera only 10 days later, all dressed to the nines.

I suspect they can if they have the best and most up-to-date medical care a Congressperson’s influence can supply. Such influence includes the best surgeons, 24-hour physicians on duty, along with a team of nurses who monitor their every breath.
Some people, depending on their political status are assigned a team of medical care personnel who are instructed to attend them non-stop. Those special people are also given a PR medical spokesperson who is in charge of making sure that no information regarding their condition is leaked to anyone who might inquire as to their status.
It’s good to be a “King” or “Queen” in the ole U.S. of A.!
“NEVER OPEN THE DAM DOOR.”
The America that I grew up in opened doors for strangers, kids rode bicycles to schools without helmets and without getting hurt, and kids played outside without their parents worrying.
A shame the people of this country are so low that anyone at the front door might be a threat. But still true.
Old America.....
Me, too. The guy would have been selling magazine subscriptions or something.
And kids would be on their bikes and going to get ice cream cones or browse comic book places——without being grabbed and forced into a vehicle by a pedo.
Good on the old man. Prayers up that be fully recovers.
When I attended a private Kindergarten [Public Schools had none] in the 50s, we had to check our gun belts in a chair in the hall.
You don’t have to answer the phone, and you don’t have to answer the door.
Me too.
Its not that place anymore.
Speaking of Chicago, from a couple of years ago...

I miss Second City Cop blog. The writer of that site really gave some insights on what goes on in Chicago law enforcement politics.
