“In the medium term, it is much more likely that Russia will mobilize more of its reserves and militarize as much of its industrial sector as possible so as to facilitate an all-out effort to defeat the present government and security forces of Ukraine in a spring or summer offensive.”

I guess russia IS GOING TO WIN IT ALL BY CONSCRIPTING 200,000 MORE DRUGGIES, OLD MEN WHO WILL BE POORLY TRAINED AND WE SHOULD BE AFRAID. I THINK NOT. The more they conscript the more they are taking from the bottom of the barrel.

“that we, by our naïveté and arrogance, helped to provoke.”

No, it is Russia that provoked the war by invading the ukraine.

“an aggressive Western campaign to invade and destroy Russia .”

Russia knows full well that it started it and as such Russia needs to be defeated and broken up so the rest of us can have a real peace and not be bothered by these warmongering Russian idiots.

“and which we seem to have no earthly idea how to end on favorable terms.”

Yes we know how to end and that is by seeing Russia defeated. That would be very favorable terms.

Many thanks for posting this. People NEED to see this and at least try and understand what this war is really about....and it’s not the Ukraine people being used as cannon fodder for sinister players looking for a bigger reward they covet.

Some of us saw this coming in 2014....what we see now is the continuation of the Obama Administration regarding his Global Agenda involving Ukraine... and those same people are still in charge of Washington.....

These are truly sinister people operating. ..and we can name them.

Did you see this? Just ran across it on Twitter. Pretty in-depth connection of the dots.

As a matter of fact, yes. We had mapped the geology of the place during the 20 years we were there.

"... the nationalist Putin wants to avenge defeat by showing strength."

And what better time to do it than when the US is politically purging it's military and expending it's remaining energy and attention on CRT and other politically correct mumbo jumbo?

It’s the Joooooos! Seriously? Charles Krauthammer is in those photos, and he’s dead. Netanyahu is there any has refused Zelensky’s repeated requests for Iron Done tech. Blinken keeps asking Bibi to send weapons and he says no. NYT on Sunday said Bibi is pissing the Biden admin off by doing so. Perhaps it’s not that simple.

Russia’s FSB security service said on Thursday it has opened a criminal case against a US citizen suspected of espionage, as ties between Moscow and Washington disintegrate further over the Kremlin’s nearly year-long Ukraine offensive.
The FSB did not name the person or provide any other details, nor did it say whether the suspect had been arrested.

“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case against a US citizen on the grounds of a crime under the 276 ‘Espionage’ Article of the Criminal Code,” the FSB said.

“The American is suspected of collecting intelligence on biological topics directed against the security of the Russian Federation,” the FSB added.

The author to this article is talking out of both sides of his mouth. First he announces:

"the danger of major escalation on the Russian side, even the use of nuclear weapons, becomes unacceptably high"

Before moving onto the other side of the authors mouth, let us consider how preposterous the idea that Russia has conventional military strength sufficient to pose a risk that is "unacceptably high."

Russia has revealed itself to be a paper tiger, alluding back 70 years to World War II in which the Soviet Union was forced to bleed itself white in order to survive under the iron hand of Joseph Stalin is of historical interest but no relevance. Russia does not have the manpower, the matériel, the will, or the coherence to wage effective conventional war against NATO.

That leaves nuclear war, the other side of the authors mouth, as it were:

"Does all of this mean that Russia is bound to “go nuclear” in Ukraine? Not necessarily. Russia is a powerful and resourceful country, despite appearances to the contrary, and it has a long history of acting circumspectly in its encounters with the United States, NATO, and the West—not out of respect so much as fear of Western strength. "

So nuclear war is not necessarily the inevitable Russian response to Western policy in Ukraine. Yet the sub headlines to this story reads as follows:

"This week the West crossed several red lines, bringing us ever closer to a nightmare scenario."

What is the nightmare scenario? Clearly it's not a conventional Russian attack against NATO, that would be about as foolish as the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor or Hitler's declaration of war against the United States. Russia is clearly not a first-class conventional military power.

As to the nuclear threat, even the author discounts that and if the Western powers do not proceed as though they will not be intimidated by nuclear blackmail, then the West will be, in the words of the author:

"Prosecuting Its Crusade Against Russia with Stunning Naïveté."

The article approaches a bait and switch.

“The tide is slowly turning against Victoria Nuland and her neo-conservative co-conspirators who began this conflict in 2014 with the Maiden coup-d’etat.”

They gave that bitch a free ride to do what she wanted to avenge her father’s (or grandfather’s) experience at the hands of the Soviets - they should have known better than to empower someone who has a blood-feud to settle.

“All this is confirmation, from the Russian point of view, of the extremely high stakes for which they are fighting, and of the fact that they, not Ukraine, are the nation that is targeted for destruction.”

It was VERY SIMPLE - a prosperous, independent, Russia (and China, and others) could NEVER be allowed to survive along side a decadent, impoverished, bug-eating, Western community (thanks to the Green Agenda) - So Russia had to go.

It was an EXACT flip of the Cold War, where the Warsaw Pact could not survive as long as the West was free and prosperous...and the Warsaw Pact is now gone.

"Let's begin with the obvious: Ukraine is toast" Nicholas Waddy, February 26, 2022. That did not age well.

"This week the West crossed several red lines, bringing us closer to this nightmare scenario."

How many times has Russia or some expert said NATO has crossed Russia's red lines now? As if invading a sovereign nation is normal every day occurrence? The problem with red lines is, "Putin has no red lines". Nigel Gould Davis lead the UK foreign office economic section in Moscow and was ambassador to Belarus. he points out, red lines is a false narrative. It means if NATO does X, Russia WILL automatically do Y in return. That's not how international relations works. Putin wants NATO to think there are red lines, and NATO has called his bluff repeatedly.

Putin's actions are based on his risk/benefit calculations, not ours. He does not have red lines because those opposing western aid need him to have red lines to justify their position. Instead of deterring ourselves, Europe should try to deter Putin from escalating further as well. Deterrence and escalation are always two way streets.
