so give us a history lesson about Ukraine and Crimea.In 1991, the Russian Federation recognized Ukraine's borders - including the Crimea belonging to Ukraine.
This was agreed upon in several international treaties to which Ukraine and Russia were signatories.
Then, in a Nacht-und-Nebel-Aktion, Russia seized the Crimea in 2014.
That's all anyone needs to know.

At the time of the breakup of the USSR, 54% of the voters in Crimea supported Ukraine's independence. As of 2001, Russians were 58% of the population in Crimea. A Gallup poll in 2013 had only 23% of respondents in Crimea in favor of becoming part of Russia.
