While Russia is at war with Ukraine their own homeland is fair game. But if they would end this war and go home no one would attack them. The Russians have brought on any response by themselves. They could save themselves all of this by just ending this invasion and going home.
They could, but they won’t until they are defeated militarily or there is a peace settlement. You say fair game. Fair game to whom? NATO forces? I say the USA should absolutely not get into this fight.
Fair game for the Ukrainians. Neither NATO or the U.S. will attack Russia directly.

I have repeatedly stated that there is no "good guy" in that conflict. I root for the invaded over the invader, the little guy over the big guy, and don't object to selling them arms. But stop GIVING them stuff I helped pay for!
