How on earth is there such thing as a 19 year old cop
That was my first thought. I read the whole article and he is very articulate, obviously mature for his age. But even so, do we want any 19 y/o cops?
I must admit I'm not familiar with Georgia Laws and Regulations on Police employment, however I read the article, and Kersey joined the Police Force because Police Officers were model citizens when they responded and helped his family with domestic issues several times when he was a child.
He wanted to be like Police Officers, so he made it his goal, he met the requirements and was hired.
How on Earth is there an 18-year-old who must die in battle in the U.S. military?
The same way I became a 20 year old E-5 in the Army.
In the cop's case, he could easily have graduated from high school at the age of 17 (as did I) then enter into a 14 week police academy program and get his certification.
Following graduation, he was hired by his respective police dept.
We have 19-year-old military personnel, don’t we?
More importantly, what does his belief have to do with his job?
