Who says it was based on information they received vs what he was doing behind the wheel before he stopped? Yes, they would have run priors and found none before the stop, but I have not heard there was any BOLO for the vehicle he was in either.
The reason for pulling him over could’ve been for a minor traffic offense, which is common in the hunt for punks, but if he sped away when they turned the lights on, that’d make it a bit more different context for the initial yank out of the car.
The history of the unit itself seems to be more like the stop and frisk procedures of NY so would not be surprised if there were no traffic violation at all to initiate the stop. I would also believe that the procedure for any stop initiated by a BOLO would involve the yank.
What I don’t buy at this point is that they’d do the yank for non felony detainments.
That’s why I’d like to see the dashcams. The only reason not to release them is either stupidity or the desire to craft a story.
