Raising the Social Security tax WOULD solve the issue, but it is already at 12%. That is already very high. But “an immediate 3.24 percentage point increase in the payroll tax rate (from 12.40% to 15.64%)” would make it solvent.
But I think the young are tired of paying more and more. Older folks (I’ll be at full retirement age soon) don’t want significant cuts - although all my retirement planning ASSUMES I won’t get SS because I don’t trust the government OR VOTERS to manage SS responsibly.

I don’t support that. I favor at least looking at reversing the Paul Ryan tax cut for big woke corporations
