The dirty secret is that most cops drill you to ‘figure out what is going on’ before they arrest and read rights. That’s mostly an after thought unless you’re taken to an interrogation.

I’ve legit seen people stand up and not even give their names and IDs to cops and be ok.

The other secret is not saying anything will not hurt you in any way. But talking will. You can’t talk your way out of an arrests 99.9% of the time. I figure at least make them work on it some, don’t make it too easy to roll you over.

I'm not saying to be uncooperative. I would still give them my driver's license, insurance, and registration. They already have my plate number and can run the car. I would want them to know that the car wasn't stolen and was being driven by the rightful owner.

But that's it. They have to tell me why they pulled me over.
