Ukraine is finally getting the Western-made tanks that it wants, but there's still a few big items on its wishlist. Kyiv says the next thing it wants is fighter jets.
"We have new tasks ahead: Western-type fighter jets, sanctions, Peace Formula implementation," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said after Germany announced on Wednesday it would send Leopard 2 main battle tanks, a decision that followed weeks of mounting pressure by European countries.
Yuriy Sak, an advisor to the Ukrainian defense minister, concurred, telling Reuters that "the next big hurdle will now be the fighter jets." Some others, however, have pointed to long-range missiles.

Now that Ukraine is finally getting the tanks it wants, it’s already looking for the next big thing — fighter jets
There have been quite a few reports on other threads the last few months that NATO is already training Ukie pilots, some here in the US. It would be the practical thing to do, if the intention is to eventually supply, say, F16’s or F-18’s.
For every missile that hits Moscow or St. Petersburg (see Podolyak’s statement), there will be a missile flying to Washington. But we will shoot down some of the HIMARS missiles. Let them try to shoot down our “Zircons”.
The frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” today conducted a computer simulation of a missile attack on a conventional object from a distance of 900 km. That is, on the map of the United States.
That’s how it is now.
Well, if the Iraqi pilots are in any sense similar to the various ME students we had in Engineering quite a few years back, they are great on theory and math, but I’d give that pilot training at least 5 years...
I think the initial batch took 4. Subsequent ones were a little less as I think they got some flight time to learn the basics before they got to play with the real planes.
“I was told that Ukraine was kicking booty and Putin was on his death-bed.”

Ukraine has indeed done very well resisting against the massive Russian Empire.
Russia is the first nuclear power on the planet.
Russia has the second most powerful conventional army in the world.
And to make it even worse... Russia isn’t attacking Ukraine alone!
It’s a whole islamo-neo-soviet AXIS teaming up against Ukraine! It is composed as follows : Russia, Belarus, Chechnya, IRAN, North Korea and the entire CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) which is Russias NATO equivalent.
It would be cruel to let Ukraine fight all that massive force all alone.
Some help is a moral thing to do in order to protect Ukraine and prevent Russia to further invade the rest of Europe.
Americas economy would collapse if Europe would lose to Russia’s expansionism. Europe is Americas first customer.
You are arguing semantics here. The 101st Airborne Division was originally a paratroop division but is now called “air assault”. Same function, different equipment.
The article also states that when the current troop’s deployment is over, they will be replaced by 101st Airborne from Fort Campbell KY for a 9 month deployment.
The exact number of troops, who knows?
Europe and NATO would crush Russia and its axis, in a week.
So, all the ‘Pray for Ukraine’ folks can put the….Russia is going to take Europe next….nonsense to be once and for all.
Ukraine is only in this fight because of the bell it’s received.
If Russia’s fight were actually against the US and NATO it would be over quick.
As for a moral thing to do, I’d rather our morals be directed at stopping MILLIONS of 3rd world savages from entering this country illegally.
I’d rather our morals would take into account the amount of money we’ll all soon be paying in increased taxes to pay for all of them and the millions more coming.
I’d rather our morals be concerned about the 400,000 anchor babies born in the US last year, with 100s of thousands more to come this year. And we all get to pay those hospital bills.
I’d rather our morals be more concerned with the people that are coming over, where we have no idea who they are, where they came from.
I’d rather our morals be more co fed ex about the terrorists that are fires of our borders.
I’d rather our morals be more concerned about the absolutely massive amounts of fentanyl and other drugs coming g across the border and killing 1000s of Americans.
F - ‘em!
The NATO troops are there to protect against Russian attack.
I would be very careful clicking on any Russian propaganda outlet website these days. They are likely loaded up with spyware and worse.
No I’m not arguing semantics, I’m pointing out a fake news claim, “We just sent 5000 paratroopers to Romania.”.
The 101st are not paratroopers and we didn’t just send an additional 5,000 paratroopers to Romania.
The poster was getting people worked up about it, which is what she does.
I’m against the tanks going to Ukraine, but they’re going. So NO N-O ! To Ukraine getting our jets! But Biden Will probably give them to them.
Admiral Gorshkov has a US attack sub sniffing its rudder.
It’s been a year and Russia is still fighting over Ukrainian villages in the border region. How exactly are they going to “take Europe” when can’t even take the area a few miles from the border? No, Russia isn’t going do anything. Other than bombing women and children is the usual Russian way. Their economy is weak and military is fake. It’s sad to see broken and defeated conservatives hoping KGB Putin will get a win for them. Not happening. Sorry.
“Ike was right about the evil military-industrial complex.”
I used to laugh at that line from Ike.
I ain’t laughing anymore. Ike was dead on target.
That is how what is?
What Podolyak’s statement?
What are you talking about?
“Americas economy would collapse if Europe would lose to Russia’s expansionism. Europe is Americas first customer.”
Who let the frog out of across the pond?
