It was illegally obtained, so there are laws on the books. Problem is Newsome messed up.
Neither a revolver, nor a lever or bolt action rifle is a semiautomatic weapon.
Newsom seems to be trying to say that semi-auto firearms, pistol or rifle, are ‘weapons of war’ and thus too dangerous to public safety to be allowed to be sold to anyone but the government.
In fact, that seems to be FJB’s talking point as well with his talk of ‘limiting shells in clips’. All that said, the same logic would apply to double-action revolvers, since they too can fire ‘as fast as you can pull the trigger’.
That's the problem, he doesn't have his facts straight so he tries to say things, things that make no sense but appease his voting base.

Newsom and the dems either know or don’t care if the facts are straight. Their message is, “Guns Bad!! M’kay?” Biden said during a debate that 150,000,000 Americans have died since the expiration of the ‘Assault Weapons Ban’. No one, not other candidates nor the press challenged him on this absurdity.
