The homeless/mentally ill/drug abuser thing is out of control here in Washington. In recent weeks, within a mile of me, homeless people burnt down a pizza restaurant, smashed the windows of a Greek restaurant, bashed in the back door of my local watering hole, and smashed in the front door of a drug store. And that's just a few examples of what's been going on.

The other day, a friend of mine was in a grocery store and saw a man walk out with a whole cart full of stolen items. The hapless greeter at the front door said, "Thanks for shoplifting with us."
