I think that statistic would help explain why so many younger white men have no interest in attempting to copy previous generations’ path in terms of work, families, etc.; they see the damage wrought by globalization, family breakups, etc. and feel the only way to avoid a short lifetime of misery is to instead live as adolesents forever.
Or if not forever, at least for a few months, until the money runs out.
I tried to confirm the 69.68% figure on the CDC website, and timed out. It might be correct, and I think it is close, but I did not find that specific number, or any specific number. The AFSP should provide a link with details.
