I saw him say this on video. I think you could tell he did not believe what he was saying. Not defending him at all, just that it appeared to me he knew he it was hyperbole. I cancelled by daily news paper many years ago when an AP story described a gun as “a military assault pistol”. Later I learned it was a 1911. Apparently they’re trying it again.
