But I would say from a psychological point of view, if the Russians already think all these events are our work, and they have not gone nuclear, then why not just end the subterfuge, send in huge NATO forces to defend Ukraine, sending Russia notes outlining the limits of engagement (only to the borders and even just cede them Crimea and call that the border), and see if they turn tail and run.

It’s dangerous but allowing this to continue for years with the inevitable risk of some catastrophic miscalculation is perhaps more dangerous.

If this weren't such a grave development your comment would be laughable.   The Whole point of President Putin's Special Military Operation was to keep the Ukraine out of the EU and NATO, yet you think a total occupation of Ukraine would make Russia turn tail and run.

If I was President Putin I would immediately nuke 20 major United States Cities using their undetectable and unstoppable hypersonic cruise missiles to run interference as needed.   But that's just me and President Putin is never going to do that. /s

Well, my comment was not so much meant as advice I would offer (I would not suggest this) but an attempt to read the mind of NATO commanders. I don’t think I made that very clear in my comment. It’s more like I’m saying, if NATO is okay with the risks they have already taken then might they not roll the dice and try even more force to make Putin realize he cannot win. If we define a win for Russia as Ukraine not joining NATO, then what if anything ends this “special operation?”

There is no situation in which my advice would be sought or heeded, but I would advise standing aside and putting pressure on Zelensky to sign a peace treaty that included a guarantee not to seek NATO membership. If Russia turned that down I suppose it would indicate they don’t trust Zelensky to keep that promise, or Ukraine to be bound by it post-Zelensky.

Really though, the attitude of some around here is that NATO somehow enforces the “globohomo” agenda and Russia does not want that enforced on them. Even if true, Ukraine membership in NATO would not substantially change the situation for Russia. If as a society and government they don’t want to participate in the woke socialist experiment, then who is going to force it on them, no matter what’s going on in Ukraine? Personally I don’t quite see it that way. I think NATO is just doing what woke socialist members tell it to do, and if we could get rid of woke socialism from various countries’ governments, then NATO would not be some reservoir of woke socialism.

I see the main problem as the weakness of Biden and other key leaders in the NATO alliance. There is nobody to talk sense to third parties and everybody knows that our societies are being run from the WEF complex. Maybe Putin and Schwab should have a summit.
