Agreed. Ukraine does live in fear of Russia. Just as Castro’s Cuba lived in fear of the United States. But what would the US have done had Cuba been admitted to the Warsaw Pact? We already know that answer from the Cuban missile crisis.
Don’t get me wrong. Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is war crime, and Putin is a war criminal. But too often we in the West act without any regard to how other nations feel about things. And that can get you into heaps of trouble.
How was Cuba not effectively part of Russia’s Communist war machine, and how in the world can you compare NATO with the evil empire’s Warsaw pact, and compare NATO’s mission in protecting their own nations from Russian attack and nuclear war, with the evil empire’s mission in Cuba?
You make Castro and Communism and Russia’s efforts to conquer or destroy our nation sound reasonable.
“Agreed. Ukraine does live in fear of Russia. Just as Castro’s Cuba lived in fear of the United States. But what would the US have done had Cuba been admitted to the Warsaw Pact? We already know that answer from the Cuban missile crisis.”
Nice try, son. Our bitch about Cuba in the 1960s was that the Soviet Union had introduced offensive nuclear missiles into Cuba, with the capability of striking virtually all of the continental Unites States in the Lower 48, except for a small slice of the extreme northwest.

With that I agree.
